| What’s
different about Dionysia?
Dionysia is a consumer fair organized for the discerning
wine lover. Each winery has its own table with a beautiful
2m x 2m backdrop illustrated with its own personal theme,
making a visit to Dionysia a visit to a real “wine gallery”.
Visitors are free to taste as many wines as they like
(and can) with the complimentary tasting glass they
receive with their ticket or invitation.
Are there only Greek wines?
Well, no, although the vast majority of wines are Greek.
However, all major wine-producing countries are present
through some of Greece’s best importers. Also, on Sunday,
four of Greece’s top sommeliers, will be presenting
rare wines from Italy, Spain and France.
I am not a professional taster…
Not to worry, most people who will be visiting Dionysia
aren’t either. However, if you do want to make utmost
use of Dionysia in order to discover all these exciting
new Greek wines, it is best to follow the professionals’
trick of spitting the wines you taste. That way you
can try tens of wines and still leave the fair on your
own two feet!
I am a professional taster!
If you are a wine professional, follow our advice and
visit the exhibition on Friday and Saturday/Sunday right
at 12:00 noon. The afteroon hours will probably be too
crowded for you.
If I come back a second day, do I have to pay
again?
No, entrance is free after you first visit, as long
as you have your special “wine-lover” (written in Greek)
badge with you. However, you will have to buy a new
glass (5€) – unless you bring your own!
Can I buy a second tasting glass to take home?
Yes, you can buy as many commemorative tasting glasses
as you please at the Dionysia Wine Shop, along with
other items, such as T-shirts, cooking aprons, baseball
caps, decanters…
I’m in love with this year’s Dionysia poster.
Can I buy it?
The Dionysia poster is an original creation by French
artict Jean-Pierre Got, who will be present at Dionysia.
Only 250 prints will be on sale at the wine poster exhibition
area.
Will there be food available?
You can freshen your tasting buds with some Eric Keyser
bread (in halls 3, red & blue), or if you are feeling
really hungry at the cafeteria where light snacks will
be available. You can also try a Pilsen Urquell, for
free, in the same area.
