Athens Mayor Apostolos Kaklamanis will be inaugurating Dionysia (to be confirmed) with Minister of Agriculture Sotiris Hatzigakis (to be confirmed). A small reception for wine professionals will take place after inauguration in the Liebherr Wine Cellars Tasting Hall.

A Tour of Macedonian Wineries
Wine journalist and author Simos Georgopoulos will be presenting the wines of 12 wineries, along with a slide show from his summer 2008 bicycle tour on the wine routes of northern Greece.

Four top sommeliers present their favorite wines
Four of Athens’ top sommeliers will be presenting some of their favorite wines in guided tastings all day Sunday.
Kostas Touloumtzis, past president of the International Sommelier Association and owner of the Enoteca wine bar/restaurant will be presenting his favorite grappas and other eaux-de-vie from grapes.
Yiannis Kaimenakis, sommelier-owner of Cucina Povera will be presenting wines from Southern France.
George Loukas, winner of Greece’s Best Sommelier award (2001) will be presenting wines from Spain
Ivan Otaviani, owner of Sale Pepe (Wine Spectator award) will be presenting old vintages from northern Italy’s vineyards.
